Reflection

Africa is home to over 80 development banks.

Development finance institutions (DFI) are the most effective intermediaries for global capital into Africa. Whereas Asian and European investors have successfully infused their resources in some of the region’s most profitable DFIs, the United States and Canada still do not have significant long-term equity positions in many of these borrower-led institutions. With many of Africa’s DFI emulating the African Development Bank (AfDB) to achieve investment-grade status, Morgenthau Stirling, Inc. has an opportunity to re-present Africa’s DFIs as an indispensable intermediary for American capital seeking development impact and higher-than-average return-on-investment.

Our Rationale

Africa's development financial institutions work in an environment much different than the one we saw in the 20th Century. In this era of major socio-economic/political change, younger, freer, and richer Africans demand-- often loudly

and raucously--stabler and even more responsive governance.

Financial institutions, thus, have a

unique opportunity to partner with others to facilitate change and economic transformation in Africa.

Request a Meeting

We have direct and oftentimes privileged access to both the region's foremost development financial institutions, and Africa's eight building bloc regional economic communities. Juxtaposed with experience at sourcing opportunities, we anticipate that our activities will generate a tangible growth in queries, interest, discourse, mergers, acquisitions, and investment between North American capital and African opportunity.
